Sounds a bit noobish, but meh. Asked a few people in pub and haven't really got the answer i'm looking for.
Mainly concerns bhopping.
Is it:
Foward + strafe + jump + flick mouse downwards
Cause although i can get speed, i can't get it on the first jump like others can..
also to add to this: how are people cornering? I seemed to get hell speed doing something unknown to get round a corner but i'm a downie and can't figure out what it was I did.
u cant explain it.
its too difficult.
you'll get quicker in time..if u play often enough, comes with practise.
you can read through it, ignore the bits that ask you to get maps or whatever
just read the circle strafe bit, then single beat strafing
but if you cbf, then in short to answer your question:
when you're facing left, you should be holding forward and strafeleft
when you're facing right, you should be holding forward and straferight
only tap jump as you land. as you land, tap jump, flick mouse to other side and hold the relevant strafekey.
timing of the "switch" and the angle at which you point the mouse will determine how fast you gain speed
'flicking' the mouse wont help.. move it in a smooth motion to the side you're strafing to. If you 'flick', you will probably find that you keep hitting a "snag" and can't pick up momentum.
yeah...
none of the above isnt confusing at all ;)
huh? since when in vq3 movement do you move smoothly during switch? apart from cj. heck, you prolly cant make the bridge to rail jump in dm6 if you dont flick during switch. you have to flick, but get the angles right. approx 30 degrees off where you're trying to get to, and the angle increases as you get faster.

thats a really hard strafe, so he uses an airchange, so ignore the first 3ish pads. watch how he flicks at each pad.
anyway, mf, come IRC and see if you can find me. #ausquake @ gamesurge
maisn is right, its hard to teach using just words.
Best thing would be to watch someone do it, then try to replicate
what they have done the same way.
Jump into a map on your own and strafe jump until you get it right, it could
take minutes, hours and days ( Hopefully not) in one session.
....i'd say its safe to say it comes with experience, even those who have been playing for years still have suck-arse movement.
myself included, but thats mostly because of my super-duper low sens ;)
I don't flick grrrdian, and I can make bridge to rail.
I guess your definition of flick is different to mine.
I can't believe theres a thread for movement.. lol
Meh i've been bhopping/trickjumps in warsow for ages, natural selection and countless other games. Just the new physics in QL has fucked me up and i can't get the start right. blah
Just imagine some dirty abo did a shit in certain spots of the map
and im sure you will try avoid these spots as you don't want your
model to be covered in abo poo so then you will strive to be better
at strafing!
Thats my 2 cents!
I apologise if I offended any of the Aboriginals who read these forums.
I kid I kid! Me no srs k la?
What do you call 2 abos in a red sleeping bag?
A Kit Kat
LOLOLOL
oh shit sorry, i did not mean that at all
Ok bye
