PS3 and networking Hard Drive

loz, 06:57pm 10th August go to general discussion

Hi again,

Anyone had luck with this yet?
after a little searching i hear that i need a network hard drive with DLNA server capabilities(?).

i want to have a networked hard drive so that both the PS3 and PC's can access for storage and media streaming.

anyone here tried something like this?

I havent tried it with a ps3 but i have a similar setup for my xbox. I actually have 2 network HDDs. 1 is called the worldbook. And the other is actually built into my new Asus 700ge router which has a 250gb HDD. Both show up on the network as a seperate node. Then you can stream off them through the network :)

Now i will cross my fingers and hope that i coded the links correctly because i only get 1 shot at it......

cheers ninja - interested in the world book.

Did you format it back to fat32? doing a little research it says that its NTFS out of the box. however they dont like to give much information as i want to know why this one would work and why other external hard drives aparently dont.

I found some crappy quick installation guide sheet that says the drive comes pre-formatted as a Linux File system. So i guess its neither fat32 or NTFS. maybe they did it that way for compatibility reasons as a network drive. =]
