Well as of late my quake3 has been starting off fine but say 5 minutes into a game it starts to feel sketchy. Feels as if my mouse is sorta skipping or my frames are fucked but my fps is flat 125 and mouse is fine.. Its hard to explain but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this dodgyness and if so, How did you fix it?
ta
I get this sort of thing when I have steam running in the background... close steam and its fine.
i had to make q3 run on 1 cpu core to get it to work properly

Iv tried that and it was running heaps shit
Is there special commands you should run when setting it to 1 core?
No.
You shouldn't even have to run it on 1 core, unless your system doesn't have the required drivers. I run it on my Q6600 with all 4 cores cranking and don't have a problem.
speaking of quake 3 problems, in cpma and rocket arena the 'name' command keeps repeating.
every 30 seconds or so it shows: name "zlr" default "unnamedplayer"
can't seem to figure it out, there is nothing wrong with my configs.
anyone else had this happen?
copying q3config.cfg into an autoexec seems to have stopped it.
man, i dunno whats wrong with q3, but if you leave it as is for a little while, you come back to q3, and something is always wrong with it. and i dont mean something little like "update cpma to latest version" either
haha i was going to say that but format goes better with fat cunt

ooh..
was it doing when u pressed no keys? u probably had a key bound to 'name' so it keeps saying that thing
or one of your scripts contains "... name; ..." and you have a key running the script i'd say
autoexecs are yucky, autoaction ftw :)
I sometimes get it where if i have foobar playing mp3s and i start quake.. it'll be 125fps flat but it feels clunky.. if i close quake3.. close foobar and then re start quake3.. its fine again :/
It's hell random.. cause sometimes i can be playing mp3s and fire up quake and its fine... go figure.

or turning off xfire.
I had the same issues as crus with winamp occasionally, i'm guessing sometimes it still renders for some reason in the background and screws things up.
Just make sure you've got no other apps open

also you getting any slight sound stuttering too when it happens egge?
I'd just like to take this opportunity to mention that I whole heartedly approve of this forum thread's title.
ROFL @ dogass muthafuck.
ROGUE.
my game stuttering is almost non-existant with usbmrs11 program to put usb hz up to 1000. only thing that has worked so far. could give that a try as well and see how you go.
