It is always better to just spend the money that you would on the 2 shittier cards on a better single card.
SLI is shithouse + 8 billion.
Save up for a 9800GTX instead.
The new 9800's and ATi cards (who even cares about their numbers any more) are built for SLI and do perform, however, anything prior isn't really worth it.
There are some good reviews which show the above.
9800GTX's are only $500... wait for the ultraz imo.

yeah ian, word on the internetz is that you can just get a r92 8800 and overclock it up to the 9800 speeds anyway.
